I just wanted to start off to let you know that I'm a virgin.  I'm very scared to penetrate myself with my finger when I finger myself because I'm afraid that I'm going to hurt myself.  What should I do?

The answer to this question lies in just relaxing and taking things slow. You are in complete control and there is no reason why you can't experiment and if it hurts you stop. 

Sliding your finger into your vaginal canal isn't going to hurt any more than inserting a tampon does. 

I am presuming that your are masturbating while wanting to finger yourself. You could try bringing yourself to orgasm and then try inserting your finger afterwards as the vaginal canal will be well lubricated.
